Minister canvasses patronage of made in Nigeria goods
Minister of State for Trade and Investment Mr Samuel Ortom has said patronage of local goods would boost the growth of indigenous industries.
According to the him, patronizing local products will help generate jobs and also create wealth for Nigerians.
Ortom said: “We must begin to patronize made-in-Nigeria products. Let us begin to look inwards. Today we talk about China, we talk about America; we talk about Europe. Obasanjo questions Nigeria’s economic growth
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday questioned the growth of Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), saying it is not realistic, given the level of poverty in the country.
Speaking at the 40th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Obasanjo also described Nigeria as a toddler in industrialisation.
“If in 2004, percentage of poor people in Nigeria was 54 per cent, in 2011 it was 38 per cent, now it is 69 per cent and yet we say the GDP growth is increasing. It means something is very wrong.

Panel to determine free zones’ efficiency
The Federal Government is to train one million youths annually in various technical and vocational skills under the National Industrial Skills Development Programme as part of its Industrial Revolution.
